Can I take yo pitcha?

The photographer I'm going to be emulating is Martin Schoeller. He is very well known for his work with female bodybuilders, but since I don't think we have any of those in our class (and they freak me out anyway), I'm focusing on his celebrity portraits. The photos are all close-up headshots on bright, mostly blank white, backdrops, focusing on the details and emotion of the model's face.

I'm not picky about what you wear, because I probably won't get any of your clothing in the shot anyway, so just be comfortable! I've never worked in the studios or with the lighting here but I think that might be my best bet. So if anyone wants to help a sister out, it'd be much appreciated! That or if there's a nice clean backdrop somewhere that we're shooting other portraits, I may just snag them there. We'll see how it goes. :]

  1. I'll trade knowledge of studio lighting and backdrop(s) for some time in a studio! I'm gonna be docked for the next 6 days...

  2. Schoeller's up-close series is awesome! I wanted to do something with his work but I didn't think I would be able to put an environmental spin on it like I wanted. So I am really glad that you are doing something with it. Hope they come out cool.
